Bismarck, ND Meeting Minutes Aug 2, 1999
Minutes of the Spring meeting held in Lexington were reviewed by
those present
and accepted
Mary Ellen Withrow Treasurer of the US was proposed as an
Honorary member
(She was guest speaker for dinner)
Proposal to have an ORC exhibit at several state school
board conventions
Indiana-Sept in Indianapolis
Mich-Oct in Grand Rapids
Ohio-Nov in Columbus
Kentucky-Feb in Louisville
NSBA Convention-April in Orlando
Forrest Coulter a loyal ORC member and descendent of John
Colter passed away in April.
Members signed a sympathy card to
his wife
Next meeting-In October, the Discovery Expedition will bring
their pirogues to Louisville
Oct 8-9 proposed as meeting date in
order to see the boats off
to Ft Massac.
Future meetings- Spring in April or May-location TBD
Fall, 2000 meeting in Indianapolis
Gerald Ford Museum-discussion about their upcoming
exhibit-"Opening the American
West" (the Museum has since
decided to limit their special exhibit
to "Lewis and Clark" beginning in
Mar 2000)
President Stealey discussed the insurance coverage by the
National that covers each
Chapter member who is a member of
the National LCTHF
Four new members were in attendence
Fund Raiser utilizing historic cross stitch Lewis and Clark
designs was introduced
Headwaters Chapter brochure was viewed and discussed as a
pattern that the ORC
could follow for our own
version(funding assistance from the NPS)
United States Treasurer, Mary Ellen Withrow, joined our
meeting for a brief period
and became aware of the ORC
